4 days Rwanda gorillas and golden monkey tour
Overview
This great gorilla and golden monkey safari in Rwanda will reward you with the best of Rwanda primates and then take part in a Kigali city tour, visiting the twin lakes and much more. You will also explore the footsteps of Dian Fossey - a female research primatologist who saved mountain gorillas from poachers. This tour, therefore is designed to suit travelers who are interested in visiting Volcanoes National Park and particularly viewing the gorillas and golden mon monkeys. Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Travel to Volcanoes National Park on your arrival at Kigali airport
You will be picked up from the airport on your arrival by our professional safari guide driver and you will be in a position heading straight to volcanoes national park. This is the most common national park in Rwanda known to inhabit the mountain gorillas and also, the golden monkeys. This park gained its fame during the time of Dian Fossey a female researcher and primatologist. you will explore more while on the journey like the beautiful hills that confirm how this country is indeed the land of a thousand hills. You will check-in at the accommodation site upon your arrival.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking adventure and optional Dian Fossey hike
Take part in a briefing bout this great day experience of gorilla trekking where you will be able to undergo the trekking guidelines and procedures, behaviors, movements and many more others. Among the guidelines include; do not feed the animals, always keeping a distance of at least 7 meters, do not litter the park premises and much more. Begin the experience which is led by the park ranger guide to lead a group of 8 trekkers. You will have great views of the surrounding scenery covered with the forest, spot some bird species and much more.
Spend an hour with the gorilla while watching their behaviors, movements and much more while taking memorable photos without using flashlight cameras. You will after head back to the lodge after a 2 to 6 hours gorilla experience and this will be the end of the experience. In the afternoon, you will encounter an optional experience of trekking to Dian Fossey graveyard which will offer you a true conservation experience while studying about a conservationist who died saving mountain gorillas from poaching.
Day 3: Golden monkey trekking and transfer back to Kigali via the twin lakes
Take part in the briefing after your breakfast which will begin after breakfast and this exercise will cover different aspects such as the rules and regulations while trekking, the golden monkey behaviors, the assignment of the guided ranger and the habituated group of monkeys to trek, acquiring some materials to use and many more others.
The park ranger guide will take you through the forest in search of these great primates. Meet the different bird species, vegetation covers including the bamboo trees where these primates can be found. have a beautiful time of an hour while in their presence and this will be the best of time ever watching over them play while jumping from one tree to another. You will head back to the lodge for lunch break and then embark on a journey to Kigali city while passing via the twin lakes of Ruhondo and Burera. Take a short canoe ride to explore the beauty of this lake plus the traditional stories attached to their formations. Arrive in Kigali and transfer to the booked hotel hence the end of the day.
Day 4: Short city tour and departure
Have a short city tour in Kigali where you will visit places like local markets, Kigali genocide memorial grounds, Kigali conventional center, presidential palace museum and much more. After, you will be dropped off at the airport depending on your schedule.
