The 7 Days Uganda, Rwanda and Congo triple gorilla trekking will take you to three main tourist destinations of East Africa - in Bwindi impenetrable National Park, Uganda – the renowned Pearl of Africa, Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda - the land of thousand hills to visit different gorilla families in their natural environment. This safari is one of the best and most interesting safaris since combines all the three countries that home the endangered mountain gorillas. On this safari, you will have a look at the mountain gorilla, The Batwa community experience and a city tour in Kampala. This safari will automatically begin in Kampala the capital city of Uganda and ends in Kigali - Rwanda.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Uganda and Kampala city tour

On this first day of your 7 days triple gorilla trekking in Uganda, Rwanda and Congo, you will be welcomed by our company representative and a driver guide who will brief you about the movements of this journey, taking you through a city tour in Kampala where you will encounter different beautiful attractions such as local markets like Nakasero, shopping malls, the Uganda parliament building, museums such as Uganda museum center, craft shops where you will buy some souvenirs for remembrance. After the city tour, the driver will drive you to your hotel for dinner and a night's stay as you prepare for another activity the following day.

Day 2: Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

On this second day of your safari, have breakfast at your hotel in Kampala and the driver guide will again brief you about the drive and drive you to Bwindi impenetrable national Park, the home of mountain gorillas.

On your way to the park, have a stopover at the equator for photography between the southern and northern hemispheres and after you will proceed to south western Uganda definitely Bwindi impenetrable national Park via Mbarara where you will have lunch at one of the hotels in the city and proceed to the lodge near the park in the late evening to rest from such a long drive and have your dinner and rest waiting for the next activity.

Day 3: Gorilla trekking and Batwa community experience

After breakfast on this third day of your 7 days of triple gorilla trekking in Uganda Rwanda and Congo, you will be picked up by a driver who will drive you to the park headquarters where you will meet a park ranger who go through the rules and regulations followed when trekking. He will go on and tell you the do's and don’ts while trekking, requirements such as enough drinking water to help you in case of thirst, hiking shoes/gumboots because you will have to hike while looking for gorillas, energy- giving foods in case of hunger and many others.

Proceed on a gorilla trekking experience which will take around 4-8 hours depending on the movements of gorillas. After reaching them, you will be given an hour for you to take photos, and see how they communicate and interact with each other after you will move back to the park headquarters for your gorilla trekking certificate and drive back to your lodge for lunch as you wait for another activity in the evening.

After gorilla trekking, you will head for the Batwa community experience where you will get to know much about how they used to live in the forests, how they used plants as medicine, how they used to hunt using local methods, and their cultural practices such as music dance drama and art, the types of food they used to eat all done with the help of a Twa guide. After the experience, return to the lodge for dinner and a night's stay.

Day 4: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Have your breakfast at your lodge in the morning as you are waiting for a driver who will pick you up at the Volcanoes National Park where you will rest and have lunch at your lodge as you prepare yourself for the gorilla trekking in the Volcanoes national park. This road trip is amazing since you will be able to pass through beautiful landscapes and cross to Rwanda via Cyanika border in Kisoro.

Day 5: Gorilla trekking and transfer to Virunga National Park

After having breakfast at your lodge set for a gorilla trekking experience. You will meet a park ranger at the headquarters who will take you through a quick briefing and he will also tell you the do's and don'ts plus the requirements needed when trekking then after he will lead you for trekking.

The trek normally lasts 2-5 hours. Like the previous trekking experience, you will encounter different eye-catching things and then spend an hour in the presence of these gorillas while taking memorable photos and recording videos. After, return to the park head office for a gorilla trekking certificate and then transfer to Virunga national park in Congo.

Day 6: Gorilla trekking in Virunga National Park

On this 5 th day of your 7 days of triple gorilla trekking in Uganda Rwanda and Congo, have breakfast at your lodge and be driven by your driver guide to the Congo- Rwanda border where you will be given a Congo visa of entry and head to Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo. You will be taken to the starting point where you will meet a ranger guide who will give you a quick briefing about gorilla trekking.

The park is one of the most interesting parks in eastern Africa because once you are at the peak of it, you will have a view of three countries and that is Uganda, Rwanda and Congo Kinshasa. Trekking is normally done within 2-5 hours including one hour given to you to see and take photos. Return to your lodge and then have your dinner and rest while waiting for the next activity.

Day 7: Drive to Kigali and departure

Being the last day of your 7 days of triple gorilla trekking, you will wake up early in the morning and have your breakfast at the lodge and after head to Kigali which is the capital city of Rwanda where you will encounter different things such as Kigali Genocide memorial center where more than 20,000 genocide victims were buried. After the visit to Kigali city, your driver will drive you to Kigali national airport and depart back to your home country.
